Twenty-nine Years Tomorrow
Sept. 11, 1982 - Steve Wise and I said "I do" to all those questions that signify our endless devotion to one another in the bond of marriage. It was a choice we made willingly and eagerly, in the church where we freely chose to worship. We celebrated with family and friends, who could mingle with one another, no matter what their race, gender, or religious belief.
Sept. 11, 2001 - Somewhere there were people who hate the freedoms that Steve and I and every other American get to enjoy. On this day they set in motion a plan to take away those freedoms with a brutal, yet in many ways cowardly attack on the American people.
Sept. 11, 2011 - America will grieve over the loss and horror of the attack ten years earlier. And Steve and I will remember how bless we are to have had twenty-nine years together - in a country where freedoms remain, where our children have choices and learn to think through their life choices knowing all the options available to them (and hopefully make wise choices!), and where he and I can still walk hand in hand, side by side, hopeful for the years ahead.
