Day 37 - Pieris Japonica is as Exotic as it Sounds
One of the reasons I love to use Pieris Japonica Mountain Fire in my shade winter containers is because it looks different every couple of months. New growth comes out crimson red, the drooping flower buds are long lasting (beginning in the fall) and then flowers are abundant. I've mixed this with Heuchera 'Caroline' and evergreen Carex grass. Pieris needs regular watering so don't forget about it during the cold winter months. Mountain Fire is one of the more hardy of the Pieris for my zone 6 winters.
