Day 72 - On the First Day of Christmas
My true love gave to me, something to replace a pear tree.
A Picea pungens glauca Fat Albert Spruce in fact, surrouned by Arum italicum, Black Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon planiscapus), Carex grass, and rose and blue pansies.
(Journalistic license was used here because anyone who knows my true love will know that he has never, ever put together a container planting)

We were scoping out an appropriate Christmas tree in our field, and checked out the dwarf Alberta spruce that was given to us years ago. It look great. Do I have a reason for why it is way down in the field, and not near the house where we can enjoy it? No. I'm giving away a copy of the Perennial Gardener's Design Primer this week - maybe if I had such a book back then I wouldn't have made quite so many ill considered decisions.
Hi Pat! What a great book to be giving away. Maybe that Alberta spruce can be your draw create a whole new outdoor living space - kind of like your "even more country home" than your already country home. :)
